A Decade in the Beauty Industry.Here’s why I built Salon Boss.
I grew up in a salon. One of my parents was a stylist in Long Beach, and I spent more hours in that back room than I can count: sweeping up hair, waiting for color to process, listening to clients talk about their lives. As a kid, it was the most boring place in the world. I couldn’t wait to leave.
Life brought me back. In 2013 I started consulting for a hair extension brand and found myself in salons again, this time seeing them differently. The owners and stylists I met were incredibly talented. They could transform someone’s look and build a loyal clientele on pure skill. But when it came to marketing, they were completely on their own.
So they’d hire a local agency that also worked with dentists, plumbers, and law firms. They’d get a generic website that could have belonged to anyone, ads with stock photos, copy that said nothing about what made them special. A few months of burned budget later, they’d give up and go back to walk-ins and referrals.
I built Salon Boss to be different. One industry. One focus. Real expertise.
